Eqvalan Gold Paste

Contains:

Ivermectin 15.5g/kg and Praziquantel 77.5g/kg.

Controls:

Large & Small Strongyles, Ascarids, Pinworms, Summer Sores, Lungworms, Hairworms, Large-Mouth Stomach Worms, Neck Threadworms and Intestinal Threadworms.   Also controls once species of Tapeworm (Anoplocephala perfoliata) in the adult stage only.

Dosage & Administration:   Eqvalan Gold is given orally at the recommended dose level of 200ig Ivermectin/kg and 1mg/kg liveweight.  The syringe contents will treat one horse of 600kg liveweight.

Some horses have experienced reactions with swelling and itching shortly after treatment.  In most cases, these horses have been diagnosed with carrying heavy infections of Onchocerca microfilariae, and it is assumed that the reactions were the result of microfilariae dying in large numbers.  Although the signs have resolved in a few days, symptomatic treatment may be advisable.  Consult your veterinarian if these symptoms persist.

Resultion of summer sores involving extensive tissue changes may require other appropriate therapy in conjunction with treatment with Eqvalan Gold.  Reinfection, and measures for its prevention should also be considered.  Consult your veterinarian if the condition does not improve.

Suggested Parasite Control Program:

All horses should be included in a regular parasite control program with particular attention paid to mares, foals and yearlings.  Foals should be treated initially at 6 - 8 weeks of age, & routine treatment repeated as appropriate.  Eqvalan Gold paste is highly effective against gastrointestinal, cutaneous and pulmonary nematodes, tapeworms, & bots of horses.  Regular treatment will reduce the chances of verminous arteritis and colic caused by S. vulgaris.

Safety:

Ivermectin and praziquantel have a wide safety margin at the recommended dose level.  They may be used in horses of all ages.  Mares may be treated at any stage of pregnancy.  Stallions may be treated without adversely affecting their fertility.

Note Regarding "Eqvalan Gold" and Tapeworms:

This product is not registered to control the following species & stages of tapeworm:
